How we count
What a reading is
A reading is one player’s side on one topic, taken from a public post on Reddit, Steam or YouTube. A language model reads each post, marks the passage where a topic comes up, and labels the side that passage takes.
It keeps at most three topics per post, so some mentions are not counted, and a label can be wrong. The words stay the player’s and the side is our reading of them; topic pages show both together, so you can check one against the other.
- Crimson Desert: 526,969 readings across 27 topics.
- GunZ: The Duel: 1,441 readings across 7 topics.
A reading is one player’s side on one topic, so one player can appear under several topics. A player is one Reddit, Steam or YouTube account: one person with two accounts counts twice.
Mentioned, and took a side
Mentioned counts accounts with at least one retained topic reading eligible for these counts. The post must have a known account and game update and be eligible to appear here. Readings marked as questions or requests are excluded from mentioned and took a side, even if other words in the post express an opinion. An account with another eligible reading can still count. Mentioned does not count every mention of a topic.
Of those accounts, a player whose eligible readings carry a clear side (positive, negative or mixed) took a side. Took a side is never more than mentioned, and every percentage says which of the two it is out of. The count comes first; a bare “% positive” never appears.
Mixed is a real side: a player who praises one part of a topic and criticises another is mixed, not counted once as positive and once as negative. Each player gets one side per topic, so positive + negative + mixed = took a side. A question alone is not a side.
Too few players for a percentage
Topic pages split readings by game update. A small group can hold a real count and still make a misleading percentage: 3 of 4 players is 75%, and 75% sounds like knowledge. So each topic has a minimum number of players who took a side; below it, the counts are shown but the percentage is not.
Counts below the minimum are real and stay visible. Only the percentage is not shown: a share from that few players would claim more certainty than the data holds.
Translation
Quotes translated by machine are marked auto-translated. When the original post is stored, the quote can show it; otherwise it says the original is unavailable here. Older records may not say whether they were translated.
What is not shown, and why
We count only Reddit, Steam and YouTube. A platform we do not collect is not a zero.
Words whose author asked for removal are not shown; to ask, use Request removal. When a page leaves something out, it says so in a sentence, with the count it affects where there is one.
Sides are our reading of players’ words · a player is one Reddit, Steam or YouTube account, so one person with two accounts counts twice
